First off, apologies for the earlier recap mix‑up. I accidentally pulled stats from our last game instead of today’s matchup. That post is officially deleted — now here’s the real story from this morning.
The Home team handled business with a 14–6 win, scoring up and down the lineup like they were handing out runs for free. Fred Brooks led the charge with a home run, a double, and a walk, giving the scoreboard a full workout. Bob Vandenberg added to the fun, going 2‑for‑2.
For the Visiting team, Raph Larue kept his hitting streak alive with a sharp 3‑for‑3 performance. Tony Lainart matched him at 3‑for‑3, proving consistency was the theme of the day for at least part of the lineup.
As for Atkins, last week’s 4‑for‑4 magic didn’t carry over. With his grandson watching, he went 1‑for‑3, reminding us that even legends have human days. Don’t worry — the kid still thinks Grandpa is a superstar.
Great game, great energy, and this time… the correct stats.
The Original Post (The Wrong One)
The Home team grabbed the win 11–7, and let’s be honest — Atkins was on a mission. With his grandson in the stands, he went 4‑for‑4, clearly determined to prove that Grandpa’s still got it. At this rate, the kid probably thinks Atkins owns the league.
The Visiting team delivered five scoreless innings, which is impressive in its own way — just not the way they intended. Ralph did everything he could to wake up the offense, dropping two singles, a double, and a triple like he was trying to complete the whole set. Unfortunately, the rest of the squad still seemed stuck in holiday mode. Too much July 4th celebrating, not enough July 7th scoring.
Great game, great laughs, and a great day to show off — whether it’s Gary’s guns or Atkins’ bat.
