Rain and dark clouds didn’t stop us from getting seven innings in — and they certainly didn’t overshadow the joy of having Deana Lainhart drop by to visit, back with us after months away fighting a battle no one wishes to face. A very welcome sight.
Visitors 17, Home 9 — at least that’s what the scoresheet claims. The scoreboard told a different story, showing 12 or 13 for the home team… but who really knows, because someone on the home side decided to quit keeping score.
The visiting team came out hot, putting up 10 runs in the first two innings. The home team started slow with only 2 runs through three, then finally woke up in the 4th and 5th, adding 9 more to make it interesting. The visitors added another 6 late for a total of 17. Honestly, the home team might’ve scored again — but the scorebook had already clocked out for the day.
Bottom line: the visitors won.
Hot at the plate for the visiting team:
- Larue and Jeff Bingle went 4‑for‑4
- Adkins, Lainart, Bales, Callahan, Wise went 3‑for‑4
For the home team:
- Early was 2‑for‑3… maybe 4‑for‑4 — hard to tell when the scorebook retires early
- Brooks maybe went 3‑for‑4
- Woodson scored once and hit a deep double
- Skidmore scored twice
Some hits were recorded, some weren’t, and some apparently wandered off into right field. We’ll try to keep the scorebook awake for all seven innings next time.
